If you had asked my kids when they were young, which Bible verse reminds you of your mother, I know which one they would have chosen. The one I quoted most often. Why? Because it was a verse that proved itself true time and time again. It would have been Numbers 32:23. “…Be sure your sins will find you out.”
As children they were astounded when I found out what they thought was well hidden. The truth manifested when either their eyes grew as big as saucers or they tripped over their words, or they got really quiet and hid. They truly believed I had eyes in the back of my head. And you can be certain I let them believe Mom knows everything!
With my children it was amusing. Yet to see adults today think they are getting away with it is simply ridiculous. A person who lies, cheats and deceives will someday pay the consequences for their actions.
We can take it to the bank… YOUR SINS WILL FIND YOU OUT.
We can be sneaky, brag and flaunt our sins. We can turn a blind eye to what sin is. Or choose to ignore sin. Regardless, our sin WILL find you out. That ain’t no way to live.
The hurt, heartache, damage to ourselves and others will consume us. Keep packing it down, adding layer upon layer yet we will still end up at the same place. Your sins will find you out.
Want a better way to live?
1 Peter 5:7 – “Cast all your care upon Him, for He cares for you.”
Matthew 11:28-30 – “Come to Me, all you who labor and are heavy laden, and I will give you rest. Take My yoke upon you and learn from Me, for I am gentle and lowly in heart, and you will find rest for your souls. For My yoke is easy and My burden is light.”
John 10:10b – “I came so they can have real and eternal life, more and better life than they ever dreamed of.” (The Message)
God really loves us. He wants the best for us. He is relentless in trying to show that to us. The problem is that we have to want it, receive it and make a change. Are you willing?
