THE WEDDING RINGS

By Dana Rausch / May 28, 2013

I APPLIED MY HEART TO WHAT I OBSERVED….Proverbs 24:32a The first time I recall learning to apply my heart to what I observed was in 1982. Sitting alone, I stared down at the fairly new wedding ring on my left hand. Two individual rings, a shiny gold band and engagement solitaire diamond beside it. We […]

A SENSE OF ENTITLEMENT

By Dana Rausch / May 23, 2013

I am better than you is essentially what one claims who embraces a sense of entitlement. It is acted out: when cutting someone off while driving, cutting in line, or cutting another down with words. They have elevated themselves to a superior status and you are unworthy. For all intents and purposes; you are less […]

Let Go And Let God

By Dana Rausch / May 17, 2013

Let go and let God: conviction or cop-out? Hearing this motto for many years always held a negative connotation for me because I usually interpreted it as a cop out. When a person refuses to “own” what he has said or done, it is easy to simply blurt out: let go and let God. Cop […]

Out Of The Abundance Of the Heart – The Mouth Spews

By Dana Rausch / May 10, 2013

I did it again. I offended others. Out of the abundance of personal hurt, my mouth spewed. I verbalized my pain in cutting, judgmental and bitter words to innocent bystanders.   AND I got called out on it. I might add….rightly so.  I was gently and lovingly asked, “Do you want to lose your witness […]

Do You Have A Good Reason To Be Angry?

By Dana Rausch / May 7, 2013

A continual thud was heard on the far side of the house. Searching its source, it narrowed down to the laundry room. The noise pinpointed to the dryer. Someone had inadvertently placed a shoe in the dryer. With every tumble the shoe was plummeted downward over and over again, banging inside the drum. Much like […]

It’s All About Me

By Dana Rausch / May 1, 2013

“Mine! No, that one is yours. No, this one is mine. You took the    yellow one. No, you took the pink one. I’m going to tell on you! I don’t like you! Well, I don’t like you!”   I would like to say this is a conversation in a pre-school room. But instead it […]

Criticism Hurts

By Dana Rausch / April 27, 2013

Criticism hurts. An adverse comment or judgment is made by someone who disagrees with your words, behavior or beliefs. It is painful because it is done in a disapproving manner; tone of voice, condemning look, or condescending gesture. For an approval seeking individual…… criticism can be the death of their dreams. I have been that […]

Retracting the Claws

By Dana Rausch / April 22, 2013

Feeling insecure and fearful I am like a cat backed into a corner. With a hunched back, I hiss, growl and prepare to strike. In a defensive mode, my only thought is escape and I will do whatever it takes to get back to feeling safe. As the fear builds and I try to hold […]

God Doesn’t Charge Baggage Fees

By Dana Rausch / April 14, 2013

The first trip flying alone was stressful. Anxious about the time along with the long wait line, I was worried. Almost frantic when I finally reached the desk to check in, the attendant placed my luggage on the scale and said, “Your baggage is six pounds overweight ma’am.” With fear in my eyes and distress […]

Do You Want To Get Well?

By Dana Rausch / April 7, 2013

But Lord…. He did this….. She said that…… They were unfair….. I didn’t have the money… I was the victim…. Why should I be the one to change? They are the ones that did something wrong. I am not to blame…… Excuse after excuse after excuse. But Lord… If they change…. then I could. If […]
